Birthday Party Camp Out

What happens when your kids want a "camp out" for their birthday, and you're a family that camps?  Well, it's taken literally.  What happens when the mom is also an event planner and can't seem to get her head around "just cupcakes" or S'mores while camping (and she's incredibly busy with a large wedding the weekend before)?  She turns to PrintMagic on Etsy a couple of months in advance, a local print shop (and a pair of scissors) in the weeks prior, and a well-stocked small bag by the week of the camping trip.  With 2 adults, 3 kids, and 2 boxers on a camping trip, there really isn't room for a full spread, but a few mini-muffins, some eggless cupcakes, some homemade caramel popcorn, and S'more kits worked wonders for the wilderness.

Favors consisted of a pouch and lanyard for each child to use while hiking.  Inside the pouches were crayons, pencils, notepads, magnifying glasses, and flashlights.

Kitchen Update: Wine bottle chandelier

You may have heard murmurings about my light fixture in our kitchen.  I wanted something that would give me more light and have less visual weight in the middle of the kitchen.  I've looked for over a year for *the* perfect light.
Here is what we had...

Recently, I stumbled across Glo828's Etsy shop.  I started talking to her about what I wanted, and she custom made our new light...that I ❤.  5 clear wine bottles and a custom-built "beam" at the ceiling.

Now, I'm anxious to have the one for over our breakfast table complete!  (She did yellow chardonnay bottles for us, but we are doing a wine barrel base.)

Hangtag Closet Dividers

Do you (and your children) need as much help staying organized as possible?  I made some printable day of the week closet hangtags to help prepare my kindergartener for school each week.  I've listed them in my Etsy shop and am happy to make custom sets to match your needs.  Each set includes 5 hangtags (M-F.) 
Each Sunday, we will look at the weather and schedules to choose clothing for each day.  I found a fantastic idea (I *think* it was in Real Simple), and I hung a full length mirror in each child's closet. I bought four 3M removable hooks for each closet, and hung 2 at shoulder height and 2 at waist height for each child. 2 pieces of string to hang across the mirror and tie to the hooks like "clotheslines" for the "bottoms" and the "tops."  I also bought clear acrylic boxes and attached them to the closet door next to the mirrors to hold accessories.  Now, mornings should be much easier!
